The “Fabrica” of St. Mark’s Square

A BIG STAGE WHERE THE ARTS, TRADES AND TRADITIONS BECOME PROTAGONIST IN VENETIAN HISTORY

From January the 30 to February the 9th, during Carnival 2016, will be transformed into a great crafts’ laboratory. The very heart of the city will be not only the traditional stage used for the Fly of Angel, of Eagle and Svolo del Leon. The Square will be full of people not only for the Maria’s parade and the best mask’s competition. But also it’s going to host some Venetian artisans in a fabulous setting just in front of Correr Museum and between the two Ali Napoleoniche in order to recreate the Serenissima Republic’s atmosphere.

An extraordinary village, the Creatum, designed by Massimo Checchetto scenografo of Teatro La Fenice, and wanted by the artistic director Marco Maccapani. The artisans boutiques will host Atelier Nicolao e dall’Atelier Longhi by Francesco Briggi, experters of Consorzio Vetro Artistico di Murano Promovetro. And the artisans of the association El Felze, those of Consorzio dei Mascareri, of Politecnico Calzaturieri del Brenta, and the traditional excellences in fabrics tessutai Fortuny, Tessitura Luigi Bevilacqua, Rubelli.

Therefore, the Square will become a stage where Venice will show her skills in gondolas and oars’ construction, masks and customs’ production, all accompanied by music and acting made by Gran Teatro La Fenice and Teatro Stabile del Veneto.

Free admission. People will be able to see closely all the artisans at work and live the Carnival atmosphere like her own protagonist.
